The Sovereignty of God is a very reassuring concept — God, who is a loving, wise and just God, is truly fully in control of the universe. Nothing happens outside of His sovereign plan and control. However, we might see a conflict as we pursue this Biblical truth further: If God is truly sovereign, how can He allow pain, suffering and evil? The following two videos are a discussion of this difficult, yet rewarding topic. I had to divide the talk into two parts in order to upload it to a free service; thus the first video may end rather abruptly (it’s about 21 minutes long).

If this is the first time you have been confronted with teaching about God’s absolute sovereign control vs. our human responsibility (how can He hold us responsible if He is fully planning and executing His will?), it might be challenging, or even disturbing to you. That’s a very common reaction in my experience. My prayer is that further study of this topic will bring great rewards for you — the reward of knowing and loving God more and more as we see His marvelous character and plan! Please pray with me that your mind would be open to the teaching of the Holy Spirit in this area.
